On the catwalks of Paris this week, the colours of Milan (the red and black side) will make a surprise appearance. The two fashion capitals collide as Koché collaborates with AC Milan and Puma for an upcycled capsule that fuses the Paris label’s couture-to-wear with the football giant's heritage and Puma's sportswear expertise. From the uncompromising label’s inception in 2015, creative director and founder Christelle Kocher has ignited imaginations and pushed possibilities by continually collaging her couture training with an everyday sensibility informed by the streetwear and reality around her. Koché is, and will always be, an instinctual blend of her milieus: the atelier and the “real Paris” where she lives. After Koché remixed a selection of Paris Saint Germain’s jerseys for spring/summer 18, an impressed Vogue Runway’s Nicole Phelps asked, “who knew a football jersey cut on the bias could have such a nice drape?” Well, CSM-educaded, ANDAM-awarded Christelle Kocher did and with this limited-edition collaborative capsule, she has focused her talent on elevating another city’s footballing institution. As Kocher reimagines her favourite unused AC Milan PUMA jerseys and mixes them with her own upcycled fabrics and prints from former seasons, the rossonero is cut, sewn and embellished alongside signature “lace’ digital with burning effect. The resulting capsule showcases the transformative power of upcycling and amplifies it on a global stage.
Ahead of the official unveiling in Paris, AC Milan players and PUMA Ambassadors Tiémoué Bakayoko and Laura Fusetti had the opportunity to be a part of the NSS-shot campaign. "This is a very cool collection,” Paris-born box-to-box midfielder Bakayoko commented on the unique design. “I love how they were able to mix the iconic red and black of the AC Milan jersey with bold elements of fashion and overall I think the mix works perfectly," he added. “I love the sustainable aspect of it, with these items being made of upcycled fabrics," Fusetti explained.
